A list of upcoming summer festivals (with African style)
The hot summer is upon us, and the festival season is still on. First, let me tell you about the upcoming summer festivals.
I definitely want to go! The Japanese Summer Festivals
Featured festivals held in August → Introducing traditional festivals that you definitely want to go to next year even if you can't make it this year
72nd Yosakoi Festival (Kochi)
Today is already the evening festival and the Yosakoi National Championship. You still have time! African fashion made of cotton is perfect for dancing at festivals with Naruko drums in hand.

Awa Dance (Tokushima)
Over five days from August 11th to 15th, the city will be filled with excitement as approximately 1.3 million people and 100,000 dancers take part in this traditional dance festival with a history dating back 400 years.

Aomori Nebuta Festival (Aomori) [Ended]
Held from August 2nd to 7th, this year's festival has unfortunately already ended, but it's definitely one to see next year. It's a major festival representing Tohoku, attracting nearly 3 million tourists during the period. The vibrant African prints stand out against the colorful Nebuta floats.

[Special Edition] Cultural events you can enjoy until September
Summer Night Museum (various locations in Tokyo)
The event will be held at Tokyo Metropolitan Cultural Facilities from Thursday, August 14th to Friday, September 26th, every Friday after 5pm. Even if you're feeling a bit tired from being outside, a museum at night will be cool and comfortable! Even if it's scorching hot outside, you can spend the night in an air-conditioned room without worrying about your health, making it a recommended night experience for dates and families.

Recommended items for festivals
Perfect for beating the heat! Comfortable items
Traditional clothing originating from the arid regions of Africa is actually perfect for Japan's hot and humid summers. The highly breathable cotton material and colorful, unique designs create a special atmosphere for festivals.
Organic cotton stole
Even if it's hot during the day, it can feel surprisingly chilly at night. Especially at venues on riverbanks or in regional cities, the night breeze can be cooler than expected. Lightweight and easy to carry, organic cotton is gentle on the skin and has just the right amount of heat retention. Just put it in your bag when not in use and it won't get in the way.
Sisal Basket Bag
If you're planning on wearing a yukata, we highly recommend a sisal basket bag. The texture of the natural material enhances the elegance of the yukata, while also being extremely practical. Sisal is lightweight yet durable, so it retains its shape even when filled with heavy items like plastic bottles and antiperspirant sheets. It's also breathable, so it's hygienic and won't get too stuffy even if you put a wet towel inside.
Coordination that gives you a taste of African culture
Items inspired by the traditional costumes of African countries such as Nigeria and Kenya fit in well with the extraordinary atmosphere of festivals. African culture is known for its vibrant and colorful designs, which go perfectly with the lively atmosphere of Japanese summer festivals.
Even if you normally prefer subdued colors, it can be fun to try out a bold, colorful style for a festival.
Participate in sustainable festivals
Choosing ethical products is a great way to think about the environment and producers while enjoying the festival. Fair trade products and items made from upcycled materials allow you to enjoy new fashion without feeling guilty.
This summer, try a new festival experience with African style. It's sure to be a memorable and special summer.
