Upcycled aluminum earrings MARO designes
"Upcycling" is the process of using unused items to create new products. These earrings are made from recycled aluminum that has been used as waste material.
■DesignThe iconic design features recycled aluminum polished to form hieroglyphic characters.
*Since the recycled aluminum is finished by hand, small scratches may remain on the surface.
*Please note that as these are handmade, the shape may differ slightly from the photo.
■Brand introduction
Malo Design is based in Nairobi, Kenya, East Africa, and creates contemporary jewelry using cow horn and bone.
Beads and pieces made from cow horn and cow bone, traditional African materials, create unique shapes and are the basic materials for Malo Design jewelry.
The necklaces and earrings include aluminium-machined beads (recycled from old engine parts and polished to a high shine), paper beads (made from recycled magazines), hand-machined glass (recycled), hand-machined ceramic and cotton string (recycled from t-shirts).
All of the silver is also locally made, and we also use traditional brass and silver beads from West Africa, clay beads from Mali, rubber tubing and special necklace wire from Germany.
